There is a wealth of natural beauty and archaeological artefacts in and around Selinunte. If you have a car then the following sites are easily accessible and are worth a visit:

Trapani with its “saline”, where the salt is still produced according to ancient methods; 

the island of Mothya with it's excavation of archaeological Punic sites;

the peak of Erice a well-preserved medieval village; 

and also Marsala famous for its fine dessert wine; the golden mosaics of Monreale whose beauty still attracts us after centuries and the capital of Sicily, Palermo. This and more are located a few miles from the village.
